Orange county offers a wealth of recreation opportunities!

Choose from a guided kayak trip on the Rapidan River, HotAir Balloon Adventure, Skydiving, Horseback Riding, Bull Fighting, or a round of golf at one of our local courses.  How ever you choose to spend your vacation we are surrounded with fabulous choices and we are happy to act as your concierge while planning your trip.  In our 14 years as innkeepers we have personally visited most of the local sites and can give you an honest review, arrange for your choice of recreational adventures and help in any way that will make your visit to the beautify Piedmont Virginia Country side.

Outdoor Recreation Activities

Skydiving: Skydive with Skydive Orange!  They have a great program for beginners,  after just a few hours of instruction you will be partnered for a tandem jump.  I  had a nice young fellow named Ostrich!  The one bird that doesn’t fly.. oh my…. All was well and I was thrilled to check this once in a lifetime adventure off  my bucket list.

Hot Air Ballooning: Take to the skies at a more leisurely pace with Monticello Country Ballooning or Blue Ridge Balloon.

Hiking: James Madison’s Montpelier offer hiking trails in the old woods and a trail linking Grelen nursery is open to the public at no charge. After your hike you can stop in the market shop at Grelen for some homemade ice cream.  Old Rag Mountain is a favorite in the area. There are other trails and hikes according to skill level – just ask your innkeeper!

Horseback Riding: Oakland Heights Farm will take you on a western-style trail ride, for all levels of riders.

Kayaking: Guided kayaking for the novice or expert on the Rapidan River with Beth at Rapidan River Kayaking.
