Wedding Cakes

I was blown away by the pictures of from Kaley Cucoo’s (Big Bang Theory) upside down chandelier wedding cake. You can see it on my Pinterest Wedding Cake Board.  It seems to defy the laws of physics. I can only imaging how nervous the cake artist was during the cutting of the cake.

For many couples a wedding cake is much more than dessert others decide that the this is one tradition they are comfortable bending.  In recent years I have noticed a move away from the traditional multi tiered fondant covered of old to innovative alternatives.

Last season one couple had the Charlottesville Donut truck arrive to dish out a selection of freshly fried bits of heaven.

Another very lucky Poplar Hill bride had all of the Aunts bake a pie. There was a selection of everyone favorites, Apple, Berry, Pumpkin, Pecan, chocolate cream. Just plain down home goodness.

And of course when discussing recent trends in Wedding Cakes don’t forget the ever popular cupcake option.
