The Inn on Poplar Hill offers delightfully comfortable accommodations, freshly prepared breakfast, and a full cookie jar. With 28-acres, The Inn is a true oasis with meandering pathways, hidden garden niches, a stocked fishing pond, Blackberry patch and even a hops yard.  The perfect place to unwind after a day at the vineyards, wineries, and breweries, exploring the many historic sites of Central Virginia, hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, or reveling in the whirlwind celebrations of a wedding weekend.

Accommodations are suited to both leisure or business travelers. We have six rooms and we’re pet friendly in the two downstairs rooms. All rooms have been decorated with the discerning traveler in mind; while preserving the original charachter and architecture of the 1890’s  farmhouse. Each of our air-conditioned rooms feature Queen or King size beds, with superior quality bed linens, private bath with plush robes, and towels, luxury bath amenities, hair dryers, and Wifi.   We provide daily housekeeping services.

Breakfast each morning is a real treat. Everything is fresh and cooked to order including our signature gluten free granola blend, muffins, or breads. We always offer  a choice of entries usually a sweet and savory, with guests often getting a little of each.  We call that ½ and ½. Because we’re located in a thriving farming community, the majority of our ingredients are locally grown or made, including wonderful jams and sausages. And no worries if you have dietary constraints, just let us know ahead of time so we can be sure to have the ingredients we need.

The innkeepers are happy to help with advice and suggestions for exploring the area. We can help you book tours, mark up maps, find hidden gems and eat at wonderful restaurants… OR… we can stay out of your way an allow you to simply enjoy our lovely grounds, your charming room and the amazing Virginia countryside.

Whatever your preference, you will find that our historic, 28-acre Central Virginia property will provide you with the “escape-from-today” to which you will want to repeatedly return.

We look forward to greeting you whether you are staying or just visiting to look us over. Either way, you are welcome. Marty, Victoria & Kaitlyn

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! When researching potential hotels and B and B’s, the offer of the free wine tour was what tipped our decision to stay at Inn on Poplar Hill. It was an incredible value. Marty drove us to 4 area wineries, and made dinner reservations for us at Elmwood at Sparks for that evening (highly recommend – delish and walking distance from the inn). He also had complimentary tasting passes at the wineries, so that was a good savings. At no point did we feel rushed or hurried, and it was great to not have to worry about driving, and just enjoy ourselves. The Inn also has a very scenic hiking trail, fire pit, game room, and a fishing pond. We don’t fish, but I would imagine that’s a big selling point for some people. Some of the other guests who were visiting at the same time were vegan, and the inn was able to serve their breakfast according to their dietary restrictions. We can’t wait to visit Orange again!
I travelled with a group and Marty and Victoria made special accommodations for use of the Inn, in addition to educating us on Wineries in the area we could visit as well as making dinner reservations that resulted in our own room at a fantastic restaurant. I enjoyed the entire experience and appreciated Marty and Victoria’s ability to make us feel at home in every way during our stay. The history of the Inn and the area is really quite interesting as well.
My husband and I decided to skip on a big fancy honeymoon (and save it for our 1 year anniversary) we just wanted a place we could sneak off to for a few days and relax. This place was PERFECT! Victoria and Marty (the Inn keepers) were the best hosts. With two (delicious) breakfast options every morning (by the fireplace), a cozy/romantic back room with a comfy bed and claw bathtub! Not to mention the gorgeous landscape. Marty planned out our days for us so we didn’t have to think. He called ahead to a few places as well, so when we arrived to our destinations we felt extra special. The wineries in the area are equally as beautiful and delicious. My only disappointment was Wednesday morning when I woke up and knew my vacation was over.
It really was the best get away. I’ve never been so relaxed and worry free. I recommend this little slice of heaven to everyone and plan to go back soon!
